You're Welcome Here

Come as you are. You'll be known by name.

New Hope isn't a place you simply attend. It's a family you belong to. Whether it's your first Sunday or you've been part of the church for forty years, the welcome is the same: you are seen, you are wanted here, and you belong. No need to pretend, perform, or have your life all together first.

Our Mission

People shaped by Jesus so our neighbourhood is changed.

New Hope Methodist Church

Everything we do serves that one sentence. We believe Jesus changes people, and that changed people become part of how God changes families, workplaces, schools, communities, and neighbourhoods.

Who We Are

A community church, not a commuter church.

New Hope is rooted right here in Newmarket. We're committed to the people who actually live around us: the neighbours within a few kilometres, the families who can walk to worship. Our relationships don't end when the service does; they continue in the everyday rhythm of the neighbourhood.

We're a multi-generational family of children, students, young adults, growing families, singles, and seniors, all cared for under one roof, and all pointed to the same Jesus.

"We want to be right in the middle of our community, serving people who actually live here."

The Heart of It

It all points to one person: Jesus.

New Hope isn't built around a church, a building, or a pastor. It's built around Jesus Christ: his life, his death, and his resurrection. Everything we do points to him: every song, every message, every welcome at the door.

We believe something simple and freeing: God is good, but people are broken. None of us has it all together, and that's exactly why there's good news. Jesus came as a Saviour and a rescuer, and his love is for you no matter how chaotic or uncertain life feels right now.

So our goal was never to give you more information about God. It's to help you encounter him, and to find that your life can be made new.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16

Our Hope For You

Love. Connect.
Grow. Serve.

Everything we do is built around four simple commitments: to love God and people, to be genuinely connected, to keep growing more like Jesus, and to serve the people around us.

  1. 01

    Love

We love God and love people. Jesus said the greatest commandments are to love God with everything we are and to love our neighbour as ourselves. People matter to God, and therefore people matter to us.

  2. 02

    Connect

Christianity was never intended to be lived alone. We want people to move from simply attending church to being genuinely known, loved, encouraged, challenged, and supported within Christian community.

  3. 03

    Grow

Following Jesus means becoming more like Jesus. We want to grow in our understanding of Scripture, prayer, character, relationships, generosity, holiness, and obedience to Christ. Discipleship is not simply learning more about Jesus. It is allowing Jesus to reshape every area of our lives.

  4. 04

    Serve

Jesus did not come to be served but to serve. Every follower of Jesus has gifts, experiences, resources, and opportunities that God can use for the sake of others. At New Hope, we do not simply attend church. We are the church!

A Glimpse of Sunday

A Word From Our Pastor

Honest faith, genuine welcome.

I am so grateful to be part of what God is doing through New Hope. My heart for this church is simple: that people would encounter the love of Jesus in a real and personal way, and that they would find a place where they truly belong. Church was never meant to be just a place we attend, but a family we grow in together, where faith becomes something lived out in everyday life.

My prayer is that New Hope would be a community marked by genuine love for God and for people, deep and meaningful connection, steady growth in becoming more like Jesus, and a willingness to serve those around us. I believe God has placed each person here with purpose, and I am excited to see all that He will continue to do in and through our church family.

We want to be people who are shaped by Jesus so that our neighbourhood is changed.

Love ya and I’m here for you when you need me. ✌️

What We Believe

The historic Christian faith,
said plainly.

You do not have to sign anything to belong here, and you are welcome to arrive with every question you have. But it is fair to ask what a church actually believes, so here it is.

A moment of worship at New Hope
  1. God

We believe in one God who eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created us, loves us, pursues us, saves us, and is restoring His creation.

  2. Scripture

We believe the Bible is God's inspired Word and our trustworthy authority for Christian faith and life. Scripture does not simply inform what we believe. It shapes how we live.

  3. Humanity and sin

Every person is created in the image of God and possesses immeasurable worth. At the same time, sin has broken our relationship with God, others, ourselves, and creation. We need God's grace.

  4. Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. Through His life, death, and bodily resurrection, Jesus defeated sin and death and made reconciliation with God possible.

  5. Salvation

Salvation is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Following Jesus involves both faith and repentance, trusting Christ and turning our lives toward Him.

  6. The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit lives within believers, empowers the Church, gives spiritual gifts, produces spiritual fruit, and transforms us into the likeness of Christ.

  7. Sanctification

God's desire is not simply to forgive us but to make us increasingly like Jesus. Through the Holy Spirit, we grow in Christlike love, holiness, obedience, forgiveness, compassion, and integrity.

  8. The Church

The Church is the people of God called together to worship, grow, serve, make disciples, proclaim the gospel, and participate in God's mission.

  9. Our hope

Jesus Christ will return. We live with confidence in God's final victory, the resurrection of the dead, and the renewal of creation.

Our Roots

Why “Free” Methodist?

New Hope is part of the Free Methodist Church in Canada. We stand inside the historic Christian Church and the Wesleyan tradition, and the name goes back to what the early movement fought for.

  • Freedom from slavery
  • Freedom from class distinction within the church
  • Freedom for the poor to participate fully in worship
  • Freedom to pursue wholehearted, Spirit-filled Christian living

That heritage still reminds us that the gospel should produce both personal holiness and social transformation.

We Are All About Grace

Prevenient grace

God is already at work drawing people toward Himself before they recognize or respond to Him.

Saving grace

Through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, we receive forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and new life.

Sanctifying grace

God does not simply forgive us and leave us unchanged. Through the Holy Spirit, God keeps transforming our character so that we increasingly love God and love others as Jesus does.

Holiness is not about pretending to be perfect. It is about increasingly surrendering every part of our lives to Jesus.

Beyond Our Doors

Loving the neighbourhood we actually live in.

Serving is not a volunteer slot to fill. It is part of following Jesus. Some of that happens on a Sunday, and a lot of it happens the rest of the week, a few streets from here.
